Back2Press Books

Company Profile

Located in New York City, Back2Press Books was founded in 2007 by Lynne Waller Scanlon, best selling author, international literary blogger at The Publishing Contrarian, former Group Publisher of AdWeek Developmental Products, and Marketing Consultant to Barnes & Noble Books, the proprietary book publishing division of Barnes & Noble, Inc.

The primary goal of Back2Press Books is to resuscitate previously published books, fiction and nonfiction, that demonstrated a strong sales pulse when initially published, but were allowed to drift into the category of  “midlist” books. Midlist books generate modest, but reliable sales, and easy money for the publisher.

When an author’s book has passed through the midlist category onto the deadlist category and has been “remaindered” —cleared out of the warehouse at a few pennies-on-the-dollar—Back2Press Books assesses the current market potential with an eye to repackaging and republishing.

If Back2Press Books acquires the right to republish a book because sales are negligible or the book has gone out-of-print, Scanlon brings her proven publishing savvy and marketing expertise, as well as that of the Back2Press team, to rekindle and sustain sales until the book realizes its full potential.
